Project Description
100 Red Flags
This installation was created for the celebration of the 100th birthday of the father of a friend at an English country manor.
The project derived from Francis’ use of fishing rods made of carbon fibre mobiles. Francis positioned a grid of exactly 100 flags on the surrounding lawn — as a symbol for the venerable age of the great man. The flagpoles consist of fishing rods, and the flags, made of thin strips of red spinnaker cloth, flutter in the slightest breeze, creating an undulating virtual surface.
