Martin Francis is one of the world’s foremost designers working on sea and land based projects.

He has designed yachts since 1980, starting with large sailing boats he is the creative design force behind the iconic yachts Eco/Katana/Enigma (now Zeus) and Senses. He was the naval architect for the Motor Yacht A. He was collaborated with Silver Arrows Marine in the concept of a new yacht under the creative direction of Mercedes-Benz Style.

Born and raised in the UK, he is a Furniture Design graduate of Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London.

Upon graduation, he worked with architect Lord Norman Foster for 20 years, after which he founded RFR with Peter Rice. As an innovative construction and engineering firm, RFR pioneered the use of glass walls in architecture, most notably on the Louvre pyramid designed by I. M. Pei.

Martin Francis’ first motor yacht commission was Eco, since renamed Katana, Enigma, and Zeus, for Emilio Azcárraga in 1991. Her innovative design and unequalled speed was the springboard which launched Francis Design into motor yachts.

His work spreads across a variety of disciplines, in addition to yacht design, he continues his pursuits in art and architecture, as well as his passion for photography.
