Cable and rod glass rigging

As Founding Partner of RFR, Martin Francis and his firm trademarked an invention of constructing glass walls pieced together by cable braces. The resulting system allowed great flexibility and transparency of architecture, and was employed in the La Villette Science Museum in Paris. Martin Francis later advised I. M. Pei on the structural issues of his designs for Le Louvre in Paris, and the Pyramides employ a similar system of rigging rods that were also used on racing boats.
